Ascd.org has a podcast called Idea Spark where I ran into Joseph Baird's talk. He is President at Third Rail Games and teaches at IU.
One of the truest things I've heard in his podcast: "You can't innovate if you don't have constraints."
The topic of his podcast was that learning can be intrinsically fun -- even assessments.
Give students a good reason to learn what they are learning, he said.
